The energy difference between the 5d and 6d orbitals in gold accounts for its color. Assuming that this energy difference is about 2.7 eV, explain why gold has a warm yellow color?

The same reason the grass is green and the sky is blue. I’m sure there’s some fabulous scientific reason, but at the end of the day, no one cares.

E=hc/(lambda) Certain wavelengths (lambda) are associated with certain colors. Go from there.
