I have a really, really old set of glass wear that is 1 inch rimmed gold. I don’t know if it is solid gold all the way thru or if it is dipped or plated. How can you tell without breaking one? Anyone know?

How much gold is there is the world?
I heard once that the total amount of gold in the world (including that as yet undiscovered) would create a cube about the size of Trafalgar square in London. This sound quite small to me and I have 2 questions…

What would you get if you mixed gold and silver?
i’m supposed to write something for a science journal, and i wanted to know what would happened if you melted both gold and silver and combined them…Wouldn’t you get a new element?
